Rutgers is a 35-40 minute NJ Transit train ride from Newark Airport. Transit information and timetables are available on the NJ Transit website. New Brunswick is also reachable from JFK and LaGuardia airports in New York City, and from Philadelphia, although this requires considerably more time on public transportation.
To reach Rutgers from the New Brunswick train station, head west from the Trenton-bound platform onto College Avenue. After crossing the intersection of Hamilton Street and College Avenue, the College Avenue Apartments will be on the left. Brower Commons and Alexander Library will be further down the street.
On-campus parking is also available. There is free parking at Lot 48 on Busch Campus (participants may then take a Rutgers campus bus to College Avenue). Participants may also purchase day permits from the Department of Transportation Services, at the rate of $5/day. They must be purchased ahead of time. More information can be found here.
Alternatively, the New Brunswick Parking Authority operates several parking decks throughout the city. More information on city parking can be found at the NBPA website.
The residencies are located near downtown New Brunswick and Rutgers’ student commercial district, and participants should not need a car. When the institute is not meeting during the weekend, New York and Philadelphia (by SEPTA from Trenton) are easily accessible by train for day trips, as are Princeton, Newark, Edison, and other towns along the Northeast Corridor train line.
